Why am I the kind of person who sometimes feels like if I can't do something perfectly then why bother? It's some kind of weird mental hang up that snowballs into massive procrastination and and total chaos. That sounds utterly ridiculous I know. I don't know where this has come from. I'm trying to tell myself to "Just Do It"!
One of the reasons that I don't blog very often is I think I have to have pictures for every post and I'm dreading going to download them and make them look perfect on the page. So I just don't bother at all. There are so many neat things going on that I would like to share with family and friends. It's easier to upload pictures into facebook than into blogger...but many I know don't use facebook.
I have to admit I was becoming a facebook junkie there for a little bit..but I don't get on there very often now and for very short time. I love how it has reconnected me with old friends but it can suck me in and be a real time waster . Sometimes I think life was so much less complicated before blogging, facebook and the Internet. Frequently I get media overload and I just have to get away from it all for a while.
That reminds me:
I have to tell you about the BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE! Drum roll please......Well first let me give you some background...I have struggled with how much tv to let my kids watch. When I sometimes get overwhelmed with life and find myself in a state of disorganization it seems I have let them watch too much. They were becoming TV junkies expecting it when they first woke up or during any down non school time we had.
Things were getting out of hand and I just thought enough is enough. I hated the way things were going. So I instituted the no TV or computer on school days rule. Once the initial withdrawals took place....you should have seen Joshua scream for his shows...it has been WONDERFUL! I'm really proud of how I stood my ground during those weak moments!
Now that they all know that this is the way it is...they don't even beg for it anymore and are reading, reading, READING...drawing, exploring growing their brains on their own. I am really impressed. So Sat is TV day and I am pondering how much to let them watch on Sat. I think they did a couple of hours. Now I'm pondering about Sundays. I would really like to cut it out completely on Sunday's too. Today they watched another couple of hours. We'll see how that goes. But overall...I am so pleased with how it has gone during the week. My house seems so much peaceful and focused. I love that! I'm praising the Lord for his direction in this.
