Healthy Traditions

I've started yet another blog. Yes, in an effort to find more order in my life I have to put all the subjects of my life in nice neat little blogs. That just makes more sense to me. So my new blog is all about cooking and is called Healthy Traditions. I plan to document all my fun little "experiments" that I try from the book, Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. Basically it's all about whole food, traditional cooking. Lots of flour soaking, yogurt making, seed sprouting, and sauerkraut fermenting kinda stuff. Not your boring old recipes!

James and I made popcorn today....you can see the post here!

Hello World!

Well I am so behind with my blogging. We have been really busy with a lot going on. Some people slow down in summer but we have been even busier it seems. We are still schooling this summer except when we go out of town. I have found that I have so many interruptions during the school year that we end up taking several unintentional breaks and so I am having to keep plugging away so we can finish 1st Grade before we start 2nd in September! But I have found that I actually like schooling through summer. The kids don't get rusty on their skills and we can enjoy more vacation time when the weather is really nice in the fall and spring.

James will be an official Kindergartner this fall as well! I can't wait to make a big fuss over him and make our trip to the store and stock up on fun fresh school supplies. I always remember liking getting new school supplies for the coming year....pretty folders, colors, markers etc.

Tomorrow the kids have their last day of swim class!! Woo Hoo! They have been going for two weeks and I'm tired of taking them up there. I hope I remember to take my camera so I can get some shots of their last day. They have had a really good time and I can tell have increased their skills!

We were so exhausted today after all our running around that we all ate supper and fell asleep at 8:00! Then Josh woke us all up at 1:00 and I could not go back to sleep so here I am at 2:30, luckily everyone else went back to sleep. So maybe I can get caught up with my blogging :)

Yippie...comments!

Thank you CresceNet for posting your comments! Sorry I can't read your website. It looks like Spanish?! I noticed I got some new hits in Mexico and Oman. Waaaay cool! The kids and I were trying to learn Spanish last year but that fizzled out with everything else we were doing. I hope to pick it back up again. Our library offers free Spanish lessons online using the Rosetta Stone software. It really is a neat program. But.....they are not going to offer it next year so I need to take advantage of it now!!!

Please leave comments!!

I just wanted to say that I would love for anyone to leave comments on any of my posts. I love feedback!! Whether you agree with something I say or think my ideas are loony......I don't care! I welcome constructive criticism. I know this blog is a hodge podge of cutesy family photos/adventures and at this time, political.... um....some might think....propaganda...but that is just what it is. My thoughts and ideas...which by the way are subject to change at any time as I learn more. I am very teachable and know that there is so much out there to learn and admit I could actually be wrong about things. So I want to learn from you.

Why am I doing this blog? For lots of reasons....to have a place to record our family fun, as a place for me to share ideas about what I think is important, to connect with other people, to have a place to put things that I learn that I don't want to forget.

I would also like to hear where you live!!! The kids and I are really into geography now. Santa brought us a nice globe for Christmas and it is fun looking up different places.

So....don't be shy...tell me why you think my hero, Ron Paul, is stupid. If you dare. Can you believe someone actually stole my RP sign out of my yard when I was out of town?! The NERVE! Well I put another one back up! And if they do it again.....I'll put another....and another....It must be the evil Neocons trying to sabotage his campaign. No, I am not joking!

Oh....I also figured out that if you want to see any of the pictures up close you can click on them and they will get blown up....cool!

Hello World!

I want to say hello to whoever is looking at my blog in either Norway or Sweden!! I can't wait to show the kids on the map. This is going to be a fun geography lesson pointing out all the places that people live who view our blog. I also see a hit down in Malaysia (I think). The Internet has truly made our world a smaller place. I hope I don't bore you with all the American political talk. Of course it would be neat to learn about the political systems of all the different countries. I'm sure we will talk about it at some point in our homeschooling journey. I wish I had many lifetimes to learn everything I am now interested in!!

I need my sleep.....

Oh help! It's 2:51 am and here I am sitting at the computer.....reading blogs....surfing the web...blogging....this is so addictive! And...it's so nice to be ALONE, with no noise, no screaming kids. Just quiet, me and my thoughts and the thoughts of the information superhighway. But...I am going to be worthless tomorrow. Good thing it is Saturday and daddy will be here to help corral the kids..hopefully! My eyes are about to pop out.....Arg. I better go to bed. Goodnight and God bless!
